Water
Plants
This
section holds a range of various types of water plant, from plants
that grow entirely submerged, plants that emerge from sumerged
conditions like reeds and rushes, to plants that float freely on the
surface and plants that, like waterlilies, grow anchored in the soil
and have leaves floating on the surface.
These
plants are important parts of a healthy pond as they help with
airation and as animal habitat and shelter. They also include a wide
range of attractive flowers and foliage and are ideal for roles
ranging from populating the shallow margins of a pond to acting as
large centerpieces.
The plants
in this category cover a wide range of preferred conditions from
exposed and sunny to sheltered and shady, but they all tolerate or
even prefer to be grown submerged to at least a shallow depth in the
water.
