Mouse Plant. Unusual plant for moist soils in temperate climates. Creeping leafy plant to 20cm tall has strangely shaped flowers a little like mice. Grow in sun to partial shade.
A herbaceous plant of damp soils and shady woodlands. Strange chocolate spotted flower
Jack in the pulpit. Marbled arrow shaped leaf and yellow green hooded flower. Moist soils and shade. Feed during growing season.
Thatching rush. Long cylindrical stems banded horizontally. To 1m tall for moist to wet soils- from south Africa.
Water cypella. Tidy pleated clumps of leaves to 25cm tall and bright yellow cup shaped flowers held above the leaves. Damp to wet soils in full sun is ideal. Divide and feed in warmer months.
Gold fish plant. A low bushy shrub to 30cm tall that erupts with bright orange fish like flowers in autumn. Best for warm areas, moist soils and partial shade. Feed and divide in spring.
Pink pampas lily. A strappy leafed bulbous plant with pink trumpet like flowers from summer to autumn. Moist but well drained soils and part shade.
A tall ginger to 2m tall. Flowers are a huge group of delicately orange pink and very fragrant. Moist soil and shade are best.
Burgundy swamp mallow. Dramatic burgundy flowers through late summer. Deciduous plant for wet areas or woodland gardens. Some shade and wind protection preferred.
Cork screw rush. A bizarre spirally curled rush. Grows in moist to wet soils or shallow water in full sun to partial shade. Feed during warmer months.
A herbaceous perennial with attractive striped leaves to 10cm long and small groups of mauve/pink flowers in late spring.
Silver squill. A novel succulent plant with decorative foliage. Compact and easy to grow. An undemanding plant. For well drained soils and partial shade.
Violet squill. small swollen, succulent base topped by interesting spotted foliage-a highly collectable tiny plant.
Redish submerged foliage and arrow shaped dark green emergent leaves. 10- 40cm water.
Brandy bottle. A slow growing plant best let loose in 1m to 2m of water-large upright leaves and small but fragrant yellow flowers. At least 45cm of water.
A tuberous deciduous perennial plant with green hooded flowers held above the foliage during spring and summer. Damp soil and shade with shelter from drying winds for best results. Exotic.
Silver leaf salvia. A silver leafed plant from Peru. The flowers in late summer and early autumn are almost black. For moist but well drained soils and partial shade to full sun.
Lizard's tail. A deciduous plant for water edge. Plants grow to 35cm tall and are topped with lizards tail like flower spikes in spring and early summer. For moist soil to shallow water in sun or partial shade.
A perennial bulb forms a basal rosette then is topped by plumes of showy blue flowers. Deciduous in winter. Reliably moist soils and some shade.
A perennial bulb with a cluster of creamy white flowers. Very unusual. Damp soil and wind protection.
