Plain garlic chives. A flowering perennial herb with edible chive leaves.

Medicinal Aloe, Aloe Vera. A compact succulent plant with rosettes of grey green leaves. It is the flesh and juice of the leaves which has the soothing qualities. Full sun and well drained soils for best results. Frost tender.

Queensland arrowroot. A tall leafy plant to 2m in hieght for moist soils in warm to tropical climates. The rhizome can be harvested in winter for the starch content or the young shoots can be used as a vegetable. Feed and divide in spring.

Green Taro / Elephants Ears. Large green elephant ear shaped leaves. Frost tender. Grows in wet soil to 10cm deep water. Prefers shade. Feed during the warmer months.

Thai Tumeric. A decidious leafy plant to 1.5 metres tall. Flowers at the base of the leaves in summer. Root is source of culinary tumeric. Best for moist soil in summer with dry soil in winter and partial shade all year round.

Chinese water chestnuts. Bright green tall hollow stemmed rush to 1m tall, dig and harvest corms after winter chilling. Grows in moist soil to 40cm deep water in full sun. Feed during warmer months.

Jerusalem Artichoke. A plant with crisp and nutritious edible tubers.

Round root Galangal. Beautiful orchid like flowers emerge in spring followed by large nicely marked leaves. Tubers can be eaten but are quite hot!

Rice Paddy Herb. A lush vigorous bog herb with a scent like lemon and cumin. Used in Vietnamese cooking.

Rainbow Nardoo. A water fren with four leaf clover shaped leaves that float on the water surface like lily pads when the plant is grown submerged. Leaves are marked with redish and green patterns. Grows from damp soil to 45cm water in sun or shade. Feed and divide in warmer months.

Vietnamese mint. A hardy herb of wet areas leaves are used in spicy curries. Damp to wet soil and some shade.

Peruvian earth apple / Yacon. A fast growing moisture loving plant for warm areas. Grows to 2m tall with bright yellow flowers and a sweet crunchy tuber in autumn. Sun or partial shade. Feed and divide in spring. Moist soil is best.

Chinese Artichokes. Crisp crunch tubers with a nutty flavour. Interesting spiral form to the tubers.

Society Garlic. Both an ornamental flowering bulb and an edible garlic chive.

Variegated Society Garlic. An ornamental flowering bulb with attractive variegated foliage and an edible garlic chive.

Myoga Ginger. An edible japanese ginger grown for its spring shoots and young autumn flower buds. 

Puyang. Young rhizome tips,shoots and flowers are all eaten raw or cooked. Tall plant to 2m tall requires moisture and some wind protection.
