Growing swamp hibiscus from seed.

Swamp hibiscus are warm area lovers and the best time to sow seed is when the weather is consistently warm and soil is warm.

Use a standard seed raising mix or a peaty sand loam blend. Have a warm location ready for your pots, sun in the day and protection from cool nights is good.

Place your seed onto the surface of the seed raising mix in your pots then gently sprinkle a layer of the mix over the seeds to about the same thickness as your seeds.

Water gently and continue to water well so that they never dry out.

Usually after the first hot spell many of your seeds will sprout.

Allow the hibiscus to grow in their original pots till they are to the four leaf stage.

Move them to individual pots or a moist place in your garden or at the ponds edge.

Always provide plenty of water through all the growing months.
